User Experience

Making sure we are doing the right amount of discovery in the smartest way possible is essential for the solutioning that comes later.
Key tools:
Dovetail is my current user repository of choice for storing, cataloging and accessing long term memories.
Canvas software (Miro atm) for taking and parsing interview notes, building scripts, diagramming, tracking user relationships and wireframe reviews.
Interactive prototyping is done in Figma. The toolset is getting better and better at doing even moderately complex interactions.
More often than not, these days I’m taking notes directly in Miro, tagging recordings in Dovetail and helping draw out connections and themes with the team on a variety of projects at once.
I also help create and maintain common framework templates for use by the team and other stakeholders. Being able to lead a design sprint and transition straight into taking on artifacts and delivering presentations in a single well-organized space is the dream!
I strive to make sure I am asking the right questions, listening with intent and documenting what me and my colleagues collect in the best way possible… because once it is time to synthasize giant data sets into something casually readable, you need to make sure small problems or biases aren’t compounding.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been around a large amount of people huffing sharpie fumes and holding sticky notes. I miss it to some degree, but I don’t think I could give up the power and flexibility now that comes with collaborative online whiteboarding applications.
Whether i’m running a meeting off of a Miro board or half a step behind the facilitator as I digitize and clean up the discussion in real time, i know that everything will be accessible and actionable.
You don’t always come out the end with a medium worthy puff piece on how you have all your stuff together, but I love moving the needle for the user.
